Fractured thinking, where does it come from?

Have you ever wondered where all our mind noise comes from? Why you sometimes call yourself a name that you know God would never say that about you. Some people say it was their upbringing and that’s definitely a source of mind noise. Some blame it on the devil and that too would be a source of lies and noise in the mind. Some will comment that the world’s system teaches us to look at ourselves and others sarcastically and I would agree that the world’s coping mechanisms can teach unhealthy ways to see and speak about ourselves and others. There are times of betrayal and denial from friends or people with authority in our lives that create mind noise as well. This isn’t an exhaustive list, there are so many ways lies come in to taunt and destroy. Much of the time it is a combination of some or all of these things. The enemy set us on a path long ago of devaluing ourselves and each other. We swallowed the lie that we are “less than” and worthy of shame. That shame has caused separation from God.

Seeing ourselves and each other from a deficit is exactly what happened in the garden of Eden. The serpent questioned God’s love and integrity towards us and we’ve been echoing that ever since which brought death and a perspective of being separated from God’s heart. To look at myself apart from God (separated) is the beginning of fractured thinking. It affects my relationship with God, myself, and others. The fracture between God and I is in how I see His love towards me. I’ll believe His view of me is disappointment & disdain. I’ll then begin to see myself in the same way. The progression is I’ll see others through the same lens and try to bolster my own identity by judging their actions, beliefs or ideas, thereby elevating myself in my mind. In other words, shaming others will make me feel better about myself.

However, I can turn this whole thing around by simply deciding to dwell on the facts that they have lived a whole other life that I’ve not lived. Holy Spirit is working in them in areas that I may be unaware of. If I live connected to the Spirit, I ask the Lord about it. I can see them in their connection to Holy Spirit and bless that. I’ll begin to see them from abundance instead of deficit. Whatever lack they may have is simply an area God has them walking toward in Holy Spirit. I can bless that because I realize God knows what He’s doing with His children. Only then can we be involved in whatever process they happen to be going through in a positive manner. It’s simply reconnecting my imagination to God’s heart about them and maybe Holy Spirit will tell me to do something or maybe He will just say to pray. We are learning to love each other and ourselves the way He loves us. He does not see us from a deficit perspective. Jesus paid a terrible price in order to buy back our self-worth and significance. The blood of Jesus speaks better things than Able. It speaks peace, joy, love, and hope. There’s no noise there!!!

Prayer; Father thank you that you love me and brought me near to your heart. Thank you that I don’t have to put up with the noise of fractured thinking.  I apply the blood of the Lamb Jesus on my mind and my spiritual ears. Cleanse me now of fractured thinking and noise. Help me to know you are with me and will never leave me or forsake me. I close the gap between you and me God. You’ve already stepped close to me and I do the same. In Jesus mighty name, Amen

Questions to ponder; Are the meditations of my heart and mind a picture of God’s love for me? Am I voicing what God says about me or is it coming from another source? What am I thinking right now and how can I align my thoughts with God’s heart for me?

Scripture Romans 8:38-39 So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that his love will triumph over death, life’s troubles, fallen angels, or dark rulers in the heavens. There is nothing in our present or future circumstances that can weaken his love. There is no power above us or beneath us—no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God’s passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One!
