Who is your Edna today?

I Woke up this morning thinking about Edna. She was the mother of a missionary. She was approximately 80 years old with super thick glasses on wired frames which magnified her eyes about 5 times their normal size. She always seemed to wear a perma-frown on her face like she’d been sucking persimmons. The first time we met, her son was pushing her wheelchair through the doors of the church. From that first moment, God gave me a love for Edna. Whenever I tried to talk to Edna she would continue to display her displeasure that someone would invade her world of isolation. Her son explained to me how difficult her life had been and how hopeless she was. Her abilities to talk and walk were gone. Whenever I saw her, it felt like God’s love was pouring out of me.

At our church Holy Spirit had begun to move in a vigorous way. One day during worship I got a picture of me grabbing Edna’s wheelchair with my hooks (prosthesis) and dancing around with her. Now you have to understand, although the spirit was moving in our Church, dancing was not happening. Raising hands was barely beginning to be a thing. This picture from God was a leap for me. But I felt compelled by love. I walked across the gym and asked her if I could push her around a little bit during worship. She looked up at me, those eyes huge because of her glasses she blinked a few times.  Then she nodded her head yes so off we went.

I began to whirl her around slowly at first and then a little faster. If I looked at people I was going to feel weird, so God had me concentrate on him and Edna. I saw her teeth for the first time as she grinned wide. What a beautiful smile. She wasn’t able to talk but her smile said it all. Suddenly I realized that there were people all around me dancing. Worship and the anointing was outrageous and it started with Edna! I never saw Edna frown again.

A few months later I received a call. Edna was in hospice and only had a short time to live. She was trying to communicate so they asked, “Is there someone you want to see”? She nodded yes so they went through a list of names eventually mentioning me and she nodded again. I went to see Edna and when I walked into the room she was laying on the bed, with all the different machines hooked up to her. She was staring up at me with big eyes, those glasses magnifying the scared look on her face. I got a picture of her walking with Jesus, a huge smile on her face. I realized she gets to see Jesus today, so I said to her, “Edna guess what, You get to meet Jesus today. He’s so excited and you get to hug him. He can’t wait”. Large tears began to roll down her cheeks, that beautiful smile came again. I was so overwhelmed by the love of God for her. Edna graduated a couple of hours later. I’ll never forget Edna and how God loves her. I was so thankful to be a part of that and this morning I’m wondering who might be my Edna today.

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!

I John 3:1a NKJV Pray with me Jesus, I give myself to this love you have. Put your love on display thru me today. Breathe your life through me into others. May your resurrection life source touch them and cause them to come to life.
Now I ask you to bring them to me or me to them. Stir up your love inside me for them. In Jesus name amen!
Questions to Ponder; How can God cause me to be an amazing display of His life, light and love, while teaching me of His awesome ways?
